Another comedic thread about oiled vs non oiled filters.

My favorite part was when loner condemned oiled filters, due to 3 of his AFM\'s failing. Despite stating that it was the fault of an Apexi filter; which aren\'t even oiled.

Kinda like a reply on "suitable oils" thread where someone said oil got thicker the hotter it got. lol.

That\'s a stretch dude... the fact is, an oiled filter will bother with an AFM in some situations... whether you realise that it\'s fucked or degraded, is another thing.

Oil will never get thicker when heated... that\'s like saying water freezes when boiled.

Myth or not, I ran a K&N panel filter in my Legacy and needed to replace my AFM. I put it down to the age/km\'s on the car and thought nothing of it. When I brought my V8 WRX I ran one in it less than 1000km\'s after fitting it (not over oiled or anything) same deal needed to replace the AFM and the car had only done 65,000km. After spending $310 on a air flow meter I wasn\'t willing to run the risk again, so now have a dry type HKS one.

I realise there is so many different factors to take into account, but in my own opinion I wouldn\'t run one again in less running a link or similar, and doing away with the air flow meter.

So on that topic I have a slightly used K&N panel filter that someone can have for $50 + postage.
