What engines will fit a version 2

Need a new longblock or complete ej20 engine for a version 2 wrx. Im curious as what my options are in terms of "bolt in fit" so to speak.

I know a v1/v2 longblock/complete would be a direct swap without having to change anything, but would I be able to fit v3/4 v5/6 longblock over and just swap my inlet manifold over? Just wanting to know what my options are as far as direct swap of engine and/or manifold go. thanks! :)

Yea I would like to buy like a v3/4 v5/6 and hopefully just have only swap the intake manifold, the bolt pattern changed after 98 I think, but like you im not sure and the internet has so many answers that are not direct enough for me to put faith in. That v7 longblock with v1/2 heads thought, would v1/2 heads bolt on? and would I not need to change engine mounts or waterhose routes etc? that\'s a great alternative though

if you can swap the intake manifold. :) Engine will fit. If it is later version Loom/throttle body/ must be changed onto the "new" intake manifold ICV also requires sorting out. Easy. Done this a few times now.

Nice easy job. :D :D

Thanks titan,By "later version" does that mean any version past like v1-2 or post 98 models? ultimately Im going to ask someone in the Christchurch area who has a hoist and tools enough to do the job to help me install/swap in the engine for $200 or so, so the less work required the better, hence why im going to try stick to "in out" sorta job.

93-98 Phase 1 EJ20 DOHC heads have straight bolt pattern.

99-00 Phase 2 EJ20 DOHC heads have staggered bolt pattern.

so prehaps my options are a v1-v2 complete engine ($1600) from auto parts. a v1-v2 longblock ($1200) from auto parts, and swap my inletmanifold and turbo over. Or any longblock pre 99 and do the intake manifold and turbo swap over.

If I were you I\'d choose a V3/4 STI longblock or failing that an MY97-98 GTB longblock as the heads are much better. Mostly due to not having those horrible, troublesome hydraulic lifters in them. Although the V1-2 lifters aren\'t as bad as the earlier ones.

And then swap your intake and loom etc onto it.

Nope coz you just bolt your manifold directly onto it so it uses all your sensors/TB etc.

What he said. ^^^^

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
