Car power cuts out... WTF?!?

So it happened twice last night. Car was driving, albeit slowly (taking off from traffic lights), and the whole car just died, lost all power. It came back immediately, I re-started it and it was okay.

The first sign I had that something was amiss, was earlier in the day, the headunit cut out twice - lost all power, settings memory etc, but car still functioned fine.

What the efff would be causing this? There\'s no CEL and I haven\'t checked for any codes yet, but I shall do that, probably in the weekend.

Anybody got any bright ideas? It\'s a 96 Legacy GTB btw.

Check the connections at your starter motor too.

Battery and connections all sweet. Wouldn\'t think it\'s the alarm, no, otherwise it would still just all power up okay (lights on dash etc), just not start due to the immobiliser. But it wasn\'t getting any power at all. No interior lights, no headunit, no nothing.
