Separating turbo housing

I\'m having trouble trying to separate the exhaust housing off the main body of my vf30 to rebuild it anyone have any tips? don\'t really want to exert too much force on it if need be.

Dont hit it away from the CHRA if it comes loose on an angle it can clip one side of your turbine. Try bashing it end on to loosen it up. Or hitting it to turn it with the vband loosened slightly so it still holds it in place.

Heaps of inox and let it sit can also help a lot.

I\'m assuming you\'ve got the v-band clamp thing off it already?

I\'d clamp the core in a vice with some rags then hit the housing with a hammer, just don\'t hit it sideways as mentioned. If anything I\'d bash it towards the core a couple of times to try and pop it.

I got an old hunting knife and gently tapped it into the join then removed twisted and continued until it had been split then sat it end to end and nudged it with a rubber mallet

i hit them off with a hammer . the key is to just hit hard enough untill it moves . keep spinning the wheels and or looking in the end to check that gap if its moved . tap the other side . if it hasnt tap it harder .

and yeah the knife or chisel in the join works good too . depends on size of turbo

also on some small ones you can use the bolts holding either end to push the other on off . with spacers etc

cool thanks for the tips, managed to separate it today after soaking the joint in Inox then gently tapping a chisel in the seam
