V11 STI (hatch) 2.0 or 2.5?

Starting to fantisise about my next subie.

Which is the better engine the 2.0 jdm or the 2.5 nzdm.

Which is better stock and which is better from a modifications standpoint, ie price and avaliability of parts, how well it makes power, reliability etc.

I heard the 2.5 turbo powerplants like to commit suicide even when stock, is there any truth to this?

The 2.5s have a weak weld on the oil pickup, see horror stories from the states of them dropping off. Torquie motors though.

I personally would go for the jdm... perkier engine, rev happily, twin scroll goodness and more agressive tune. The jdm market always gets the best bits lol

Jdm STI it is then.... now just need to magic up some money ???

Need some more go fast for the leggy to keep me happy until then.

my daily 2.5 is at 165k and going strong with a bit more power being squeezed out of it. Its a 04 2.5 sti foz which is JDM. Very nice to drive

Im just thinking ahead. At least a year out before I swap the leggy for the v11. But what can I say ive got the subie bug.

Why do you prefer the 2.5?

because bigger displacement would be better for towing (have no idea if this applys to you)

there still a perky engine an there still rev happy.

i believe there still twin scroll , avcs ect so good spool up on turbo. (even better than 2l )

the jdm may have a better tune but to be safe with nz fuel you would want a reflash anyway.

if you know the pickups are weak its a easy fix. dont know why this would be restricted to the 2.5 tho as the pickups are the same.

but to fix just buy a twin scroll jdm pickup and swap it.

Yep blue. Best daily I have ever had with only few little mods. New suspension, wheels, swaybars, exhaust, headers, up pipe and beat rush guard. About to fit a bigger turbo and reflash her.

Yep blue. Best daily I have ever had with only few little mods. New suspension, wheels, swaybars, exhaust, headers, up pipe and beat rush guard. About to fit a bigger turbo and reflash her.

super jealous! there seams to be little to choose from at the moment . may have to look at importing
