Wow high 11's is amazing with stock turbo. Were you giving it death at the strip? e.g redline launching, flat shifting etc?

Had launch control set up rather agressively (15psi ish at launch) and some sticky tyres with lowered pressures. No point redline shifting as it starts to run out of pull, better to change at 6500 -7000 as it'll drop you back in peak torque range

so out of risk that i'll be known as the guy who revives old threads...

 

is the advice still pretty much true today, that you can use factory ECU for boost control and not really need anything like avc-r? the tuners i've spoken with so far are saying they prefer factory ecu and i do trust them so i'll probably go that route.. car came with avc-r when i got it, are there any other advantages of keeping it or shall i proceed to have it removed and onsell to pool up cash for other mods that'll get me a bit more power?

GFB Gforce 2s are great, running one in my BF til I can afford a Link. Boost comes on very strong, lots of adjustments to play with. MBCs are shite. If I were you I'd get a MAC valve and get your factory ECU set up however

I have changed cars a few times since, still have the gfb ebc, still use it because I cbf tuning the boost control (LOL) 

 

But yeah. The stock ecu is a bloody capable unit, especially if you run a 3port boost control solenoid
