2006 GT Spec B or a 2008 GT

Hi all,

I am in the hunt for my first Subaru and the Legacy GT wagon has caught my eye. I have the opportunity to purchase a 2006 GT Spec B or a 2008 GT. Both have an asking price of $15,999 (and both appear to be in good condition, I am yet to actually check out the specific cars, but I have taken a couple of different ones for a drive and love them)

So I can't decide between the two, I like the look of the spec B better but wouldn't mind the newer car. Does anyone have any considerations that I might not thought of? anything will help me out!!

Also is that a fair price?

Regards,

Rainydaytoast

Welcome to the forum.

Firstly, are they imports or nz new? Jap imports stuck with the 2.0l engine for the facelift (has curved up bottom edge on headlights rather than sharp corner) whereas nz went to the 2.5l one. Each have their own strengths and weaknesses.

If both cars are the facelift ones then the 2yrs difference probably doesn't make much difference. Will come down to how the last owner treated them more than age alone.

Just the general appearance of the spec b is much sharper. Never did drive a non spec b before getting mine, but knew i'd always be dissapointed if i didn't go for the car i really wanted, absolutly love mine and would make the choice again in a heartbeat.

$15999 is on the cheaper side, not too cheap to be wary though. Worth spending the money to get the one you decide on checked out by a mechanic to make sure there's no hidden issues.

half leather seats on the 2008 look sharp.

it's not manual so you don't have to worry about 5speed vs 6 speed, but not sure what other changes were made between 2006 and 2008. Best thing to do is try them both and choose whichever one you feel drives better.

While I was out shopping for a new car I came across this http://crowesport.co.nz/show/1142933/2006-Subaru-Legacy-Spec-B/

A legacy 3.0r, had a drive and I quite liked it. This particular one has a JVC stereo, only 54000km and is very tidy. Worth $18,990? I think its a little on the upper end but might be worth it? Thoughts?

Not sure if worth the price, but it will come with a warranty (1 year I think) and Crowes are really good to deal with. I had a couple of problems with mine and was sorted no questions asked and always had a service vechile to use.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
