Rear diff oil change

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I watched a youtube clip on it and it seems simple but I want to run over it so I get it right. Jack back of car up, loosen top plug (filler point?) and undo bottom plug using 1/2in ratchet. Drain fluid, replace bottom plug and refill with 1.2 litres of diff oil (Motul? Castrol?) Put filler plug back in. Tighten everything up, ensure no leaks and job done. If there's anything I've forgotten please add so I don't cock it up.

What do you have to fill the rear diff up with? You don't have a lot of space under the car as you think.

Dave and I used a big syringe which worked well, but was messy. I think the rear diff takes 800ml. Damo can price you up on some FUCHS 80w90 for a great price. I recently got some from him and it was cheeeap.

OH and make sure you get the bolts right. One is magnetic and goes on the bottom.

When I did mine recently both plugs were completely seized. Couldn't get enough leverage on my power bar to crack them. So ended up doing this, (while kneeling behind the car and watching the chassis for movement).

Remove the spare wheel and rubber drainage bung poke a longish hose through the hole in the boot and put it in the diff filler hole, i use one of those 1 litre oil containers cut in half and flipped upside down with the other end of the hose jammed in it. BOOM

yea lol wtf that's really smart, I got a underground bay at work so I can get a breaker bar on anything but that's a neat trick to keep in mind.

edit: also why do subie diff's have that random star printed on them? I mean it's not cheap to get that printed on every single diff you make so why did they do that? always puzzled me.

Thanks Timmy :) Appreciate that. Will mark bottom one with something. Was thinking of using a syringe type method with a hose attached? The FUCHS good? I'll hit Damo up but if he can't I'll just go get some from Ripco or Supercrap lol :D

No idea :) Going to see if I can do it while I'm at Richards on Saturday.

Both of these are gold.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
