High Octane or Normal Octane?

Hello,

I have recently purchased a 2002 Impreza (Not tubro) and will need to fill it up soon, the guy who did the pre-purchase inspection said all Subaru's need high octane however I have read otherwise. What do you think, will I need premium or just stick to normal?

Not the end of the world for non turbo's. Will pull some timing so will feel more sluggish than if running high octane 98 but no where near as likely to get detonation the way turbo ones do.

You will get further for your money on 95/98.

Is it bad if the car has some 91 in it and I then fill it up with 95, so there is some mixing?

Na mate not a problem. Try use as much of the 91 as possible then fill up as much as you can with 95. You'll be sweet

Ran an old n/a bg7 on 91 foryears. Never had an issue. Except the time the crank pulley bolt snapped in the block when we did the cambelt... but that had nothing to do with the fuel.

you will prolly find its more economical to run on 95 . like in reality it costs what $2 more for a tank of 95 . but you will find it goes a lot further than the extra litre of 91 u could have got for the same price
