What is correct oil temp

Hi All

I have a 2003 version 8 wrx sti. It has a oil temp gauge fitted.

I noticed that when the weather was hot and my a/c was on, the oil temp would read about 75 degrees C.

Now it is cooler outside, no a/c. The oil temp reads about 65 degrees C. (150 Degrees Fahrenheit)

Does anyone know what the approx. normal oil temp should be?.....Cheers

Seems anywhere from mid 80c to high 90s is fine. i read somewhere that its healthy to have it hit 100c now and then to burn off deposits and accumulated water vapor etc but no idea how fact that was and if its needed. someone on here more knowledgeable with real world experience will chime in shortly.

Yeah normally around 85'c cruising. Where is the sensor fitted? Has it got an oil cooler?

Mine seem to sit at 80cish at cruise. Sees around 100c on the track.

My sensor is in my sump plug and I dont run an oil cooler.

Depends on what type of oil you run, cheaper oils dont like getting hot.

Here's a pressure plot some ELF racing oil, at the start on the left oil temp is about 80C and at 6mins it's at about 100C. You can see a gradual pressure loss as it heats up. So optimum temp for this oil to obtain maximum oil pressure is 80C. (ignore the red dots)

Which spec and viscosity elf oil is that?
