G4+ fault codes/ground issues

Guest

Recommended Posts

So ive installed an extreme into a v5 running v10 sti ej25 and came up with these faults:

An temp 1 error high - ect

An temp 2 error low - iat

An 3 error high - tps

An 4 error high - map

Now pin b136-17 is listed as ground so i connected it to one of the ground pins on the extreme loom plug. Is that correct?

Appears that the ground im using for iat/tps/map is incorrect. Its connected to sensor ground. If i cut this i lose the 3 associated errors.

Now theres these to choose from:

Ground

Ground

Shield/gnd

Sensor ground

Any ideas?

Firstly note that the plug numbers change between these pinouts (134 & 136).

The version 5/6 ECU pinout shows nothing allocated to pin 136/17

Version 5/6 ECU pinout:

http://www.brdevelopments.com/docs/MY99ecu.pdf

The version 5/6 pinout shows 134/17 is the ground for the ignition system.

The BE/BH pinout, also shows no allocation to 136/17 (pin 120)

BE/BH Rev A-C ECU pinout:

http://www.brdevelopments.com/docs/MY99%20Legacy%20TwinTurbo%20ECU%20pinout.pdf

But again lists an ignition earth at 134/17 (pin 104)

The Link G4+ plug in pin out (134&136swap) shows 136/17 as the only ECU ground. But this pin has nothing on the V5/6 and BE/BH pinout.

Link G4+ install (plug in), page 22 figure 9.1

http://www.linkecu.bg/downloads/installation/SubaruV5to6.pdf

I would try running 134/17 and 136/17 straight to the chassis.

The link G4+ wire in install shows both GROUND pins earthing separately straight to the block, page 26 figure 10.1

Link G4+ install (wire in)

http://www.enginelogics.com/wp-content/uploads/pdf/g4-wiring-install-manual.pdf

I think the sensor ground is correct. But the Link G4+ isn't earthed properly. So running both GROUND pins to the block might sort out the sensor faults.

Yea the ground side of things is pretty confusing. It also says in help file to ground the 2 black grounds on plug to engine not chassis. Theres also another black ground on the b plug. I was guessing the grounding for the 4 or so required sensors/injectors etc was linked internally or something.

Yeah check your ECU grounds, sounds like you have a pretty nasty ground loop in there somewhere.

As for grounding to the engine not the chassis, if your ECU->Chassis Ground is 0 ohms, and your Engine->Chassis Ground is 0 ohms, and they damn well should be pretty close to it, then functionally the ECU IS grounded to the engine, it's just using the chassis as a piece of wire.

Got tps working now odd tho as value is higher at 0% than 100%. Will check map pinout see if we have 5v there. No idea on ect as that wirings never been touched. Everything was moved pin by pin. Gearbox ground is good, mani hasnt been touched, starter ground back in place, ecu ground out now correct, sensor grounds all correct. All i did was cut and connected wire by wire. Getting mad.

Ok so starts and runs now. Somethings way off have had to increase fuel from 11 to 17ms to get 14afr. Cant find where you change Trigger 2/cam position arming voltage? That doesnt change with rpm which seems weird or is that normal with optical/hall sensors?

If i set the inlet target too 0 it still misses and farts around the vvt has to be turned off for it to run clean. Still needs 17ms master to run at target afr and it was 11ms with old ecu. Cam trigger signals are on correct inputs.

Ok so appears both of my cam sensors are working mint now. The missing issue is avcs related as per vid disregard the errors. With zero avcs target once it gets above lockout it runs 49%d/c and 30%d/c and no change in avcs degree. Something hinky there but wiring is correct on cam sensors/solenoids.

Also no 12v at idle solenoid buggered if i know where that 12v feed comes from.

Somehow my left avcs solenoid is connected to fuel pump. If i unplug the left sol it kills the pump. If i test/pwm that solenoid it pulses normally and doesnt effect the fuel pump in run times. Wiring is same as it was when running so fckd if i know. Avcs sensor grounds are spliced into sensor ground. All 12v on sensors/coil packs are spliced into the ignition relay/12v output. Fuel pump relay and ignition relay share ignition feed as switch wire.

Plain english to someone?

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
