Yeah, that thread Lachlan posted says it all really. An NZDM special/ commemorative edition WRX that has primarily aesthetic differences to the standard model. Do you see any evidence of this on yours? What colour/ paint code? Any numbered plate indicating a limited run?

colour is 559

option code is EX

no idea what any of this means to be honest

Google did point out it could be a UK spec WRX, which would be a little odd in NZ.. I also wouldn't think being a '96 it'd be a NZ new spec one.

The exact model seems odd, but it is still a turbo 2l early impreza so why worry

Only query would be maybe if it's an ex-stolen or dereg then tag swapped car, you could confirm that with checking a few serial nos etc

everything matches up engine numbers and all ks are consistant on carjam report. I was just interested as ive had people that have owned a few and not seen anything like it..

it goes well im happy with it but it is good to know a bit of history

Not that, should be GC8-xxxxxx where x's are digits only, it's on that plate with colour code, trim code etc.
