up pipe turbo studs rusted... who can repair ASAP in WGTN?

Can an exhaust shop replace the studs on an up pipe?

Really want to get the car going this weekend... so need a quick fix.

Anyone know where to go?

I would hope so or they're not much of an exhaust shop...

Why not do it yourself?

Drill out use bolts.

I thought about drilling them and using bolts... I have a welder, but no power at my garage

Weld a nut on then big bar or impact gun. Or 10min job at any engineering shop.

They thread into the flange, right?

How f*cked are they?

I'm not sure if they are threaded into the flange or welded or what... I'll take it off and have a look.

They are really rusty though... no saving them.

It's not a stock up pipe. Anyway it seems I was over reacting a bit. After running a die over the two worst studs and using

new nuts... they hold ok. The other two weren't bad really.

Anyway a pic to show current state of engine bay... nearly finished.

Ah full custom up pipe not an adaptor. Whats the snail? Got to be a first you posting an engine bay pic on here. Whats next no more cheeky ****?

I don't post much cheeky **** anyway... just on special occasions. Turbo is a TD06 hybrid... I know not much more than

that. Seems to be decent quality, receipt said $1600, so should be okay. Originally it had a Garret GT3082, but the previous

owner claims that this one spools better and should reach similar power levels. I suspect he changed it because the last

one was damaged in a fire. He never mentioned the fire funnily enough, dirty Timaru sheep ****er.

Glad you got it sorted. You know of the standard trick with replacing those studs? Wind 2 nuts on and use open end spanner to turn the the lower nut which turns the stud out. Probably wouldn't be too keen to re-use damaged studs personally. They're not in a favourable spot for removal if they decide to weld to your nut haha. Or else standard removal process of grind and drill/easy out/ re-tap new thread and stud. I've done both before neither is fun. I've also used a chisel to smash off nuts, that was a massive pita hahah.

Those turbo care guys did a great job on my td05. Frekn expensive in comparison to other shops though.

Good to know. I will need to do them before getting the car tuned I think... they are only tightened to a minimum level.

34nm i just tighten .5nm more each time if reusing the gaskets.

I was too scared to torque them... just did them tight with a 14mm spanner.

Prob tighter than 34nm it doesnt feel like much tbh.
