loose speaker grill (BH legacy)

Recommended Posts

So I think I have finally worked out why I am getting buzzing whenever I have a very low frequency bass signal in a song, it appears the speaker grills on the door card are loose.  If I press against them buzz stops and I can see that the grills move a little when I push them. So I assume they are vibrating against the door card during low freq bass.

Anyone dealt with this before? Deciding whether I should pop them off completely and then re-attach them, or maybe just run some silicone around the edge without taking them off?

Is silicone the best thing to use or do I want a glue of some sort?

I know I’m grave digging, but a solution for anyone else having this issue:

buy some sort of foam tape, just needs to be a few mm thick. Take the door trim off and look for a few spots around the speaker where the rattle might be caused, it will probably be where the speaker grille/surround comes within a few mm of the speaker/door. Put some of the foam tape on these spots. Avoid any of the speaker. Put the panel back and blast your sound, if it’s not fixed try again with another layer of foam tape as it may not be bridging the gap.

this should apply to any sound deadening you want to do.

I also worked this out right around the time I sold this car and therefore didn't care anymore:)
