Non turbo motor to turbo

I did some deep digging but couldn't find what I was looking for. Can you turbo an old ej22.

What car is it? Probably a few options out there for you. Can't imagine any of them will be as straight forward as you might like

yeah, It's possible, everything lines up manifolds etc. etc.. but it's sohc and it has the early style cambelt tensioner- beware of that. a good option would be to get some heads from a turbo model as they have dohc, and the necessary water and oil feeds for the turbo setup. in saying that. If you got a journal bearing turbo like a holset or TD04/05 it doesn't need watercooling. which saves effort.

tho I do love me some Outback body styles with a turbo swap kind of thing, or you know just buy the turbo Legacy & swap bumpers & stuff

Very possible but I presume the non turbo engines have weaker internals and higher compression ratios (can that be fixed by using turbo model heads?). Am I right in saying that you would not get as much power (reliably) as a turbo version of the EJ?
