hey mate, nah not too late, car is booked in this friday to get the rocker cover gaskets replaced. So when you say the cam seals were leaking, did you have to replace those as well? what did you do to fix the problem? and roughly what sort of cost extra? cheers

Ok well what i had done was.... after the mechanic had replaced the rocker covers, i thought (im not going to pay him again) i pulled it apart my self........ after a very long time i got to the cam gears and pulled them off to find that the cam seal was leaking top LH ( when you are in the drivers seat). The seal kit i got was from BNT and was very cheap ( as i work at Truckstops Napier & get a bloody good discount) i think it was only $40, came with cam and crank seals in it.

I would just check, under the timming cover around about the lh mid section( feel with your hands if you can get them down there). Just check that its not comming from there and running down to the LH side of manifold.

All in all if you get your mechanic to check and make sure its not comming from there you should be in the clear.

So got all the work carried out on friday, the rocker gaskets replaced on both sides with all original parts etc, all seemed fine but took it for a long drive out of town today and when got home there was white smoke pouring out of the bonnet, so was freakin out a bit, opened the bonnet up to a face full of smoke thinking what the hell has happened this time, had no idea to start with so rang the place back and they said just leave it and that something is overheating the engine, and i noticed that the radiator coolant was everywhere and overflowing out of the reservoir and he said thats normal with the engine overheating, so turned the car off and hung the phone up not happy at all wondering whats next? Then i looked down at the large rubber pipe coming out of the left hand side of the top of the radiator had a split in it and was spraying coolant out of it all over the alternator belt etc, so would this be the problem of the engine overheating and/or emitting all the white smoke? im puzzled and have no idea and hoping something major isnt wrong. The guy from the place who did all the work on it said to leave the car as it is and he will arrange for it to be towed to their workshop on monday for them to have a look at it and hope that its just the large hose coming from the radiator thats split. Any advice or ideas guys?

cheers

Hope it is just the radiator hose.lol.cant afford anything else right now.haha.So where do i get one of these from as they quite large and guessing pretty thick too? repco/supercheap?

as above, then run the car with the radiator cap off and the heater on hot and full power till the bubbles stop coming out the top of the radiator to bleed. if you put new coolant in youll probably blow more hoses, just fill with water and get the complete job done when you have a bit more silver in your back pocket.

ohh and keep topping it up if the water level drops.

Think i might be able to handle all that myself.lol.is the car gonna be okay to drive like it is? or best to leave it until i can replace the hose?

Alright gents without starting a new thread. I\'ve noticed a horrible smell and little smoke coming from my drivers side wheel well. Always after a good drive or if I decide to blow the cobwebs from the second turbo charger out on the way home. :P

I\'m also presuming it\'s my rocker cover gaskets onto my exhaust as I know they need replacing. Could it possibly be anything else?

Coming from drivers side wheel well with my car.

Yeah most likely the Rocker Gasket leaking. Could also be a split Secondary Oil Pipe or a torn CV Boot spraying Grease.

Is it a burnt Oil smell?

Edit: Your Secondary & Down Pipe must be coated.

Thanks for that. Honestly, to me it smells almost like rubber burning. There was also what felt like an excessive amount of heat coming from there also.

Going to check I don\'t have a seized piston in the caliper also.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
