Wheel and guard cleaning

Shale

Recommended Posts

Thought I would share :)

Just bought a can of CRC engine degreaser for the driveway, and a can of CRC mag wheel cleaner for the Subies.

Driveway after three applications and some severe scrubbing is almost completely free of oil. And the wheels of all the cars...wow!

The stuff is excellent. It foams on evenly, soaks up all the dirt and allows you to effortlessly clean off all the sh!t with a chux cloth or the like.

Unfortunately it doesn't remove the crap from the pits - one set of wheels of mine is very badly pitted - but the wheels and tyres are obnoxiously shiny, clean and new-looking otherwise :) Certainly beats scrubbing!

Anyone else had much fun with other similar products? I was considering the Armourall stuff (though I'm not THAT enthused, they are an okay brand but not remarkable) and the Mothers stuff (sooooo expensive), but the CRC seemed to have less DO NOT PUT ON THIS, DO NOT PUT ON THAT scrawled down the back than the others.

I bought a spray bottle of Repco's own brand wheel cleaner and it worked a treat. Sprayed it on, let sit a few minutes, just wiped gently with a rag and hosed off. They came up real neat. Reasonably priced too.

No it must have just been the angle I had the camera towards the sun. I just took it in a rush to get the car off the road lol

i have tryed a few diffrent products like crc, mothers, repco which i herad some where come out of the mothers factory and have found that the soapy water ( i use a couple drops of sunlight dish wash liqud) and a rag works just as good as the products and saving some hard eraned cash in the process. if i want the tyres to shine a deep black i use a basic silicone based spray.

ive heard dishwashing liquid is very bad for car paint, so wont touch it myself

got the crc stuff atm, it does the trick

Dishwashing liquid is designed to remove grease and oil, not grime and road dirt. It leaves on a fair few contaminants, but removes your wax...

Proper car wash products are designed to strip road crap and contaminants off (but can't get them all - which is why they invented claybar systems), but to leave most of your wax behind to continue protecting your paint.

As for wheels...the CRC range of products is both cheap and extremely effective. Haven't bothered looking at my favourite Mothers brand because it's more than twice the price and it's hard to be more effective.

whenever i buy a car i always do it completely with CRC paint doctor.

CRC paint doctor is an "oh so" gental cuting and waxing compound. It restores paint and gets rid of scuffs, light scratches and gives a deep as shine too. Its safe-as for clear coats.

For realy bad paint you can feel the paint work soak up the wax like moisturiser, so sometimes you have to do it twice.

I normally do a turtle wax on top afterwards too for extra protection.

its $20 a tube

Sounds like a goer Shale, I have a set of wheels that haven't been cleaned for 16 months due to the car getting caged. Came up not bad after my last clean with the CRC stuff but there is some seriously nasty brake dust that refuses to come off, however I didn't scrub majorly as I couldn't be assed. Will get back on here with how my attempt #2 will go.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
