Recommended Posts

I just got myself walbro, and i've searched but haven't found any instructions or tips on installing them

So what are the little things yah need to know when taking fuel pumps in and out? About the only thing i recall is, don't do it with a full tank... lol...

i spose what i really want to know is, is it fine to do it on a quarter of a tank? And any other little dont's? I guessed the rest i could figure out

yer less fuel the better, less wofting of gas, and less split.

tip, if you have too much petrol in the tank

- take the return line off

- fit an extension hose to the return line, secure with hose clamp (garden hose?) put the end of the hose in a petrol can

- ensure all safety precautions i.e. extension hose is on tight, can is steady on the ground, safety goggles?, vented area, no smoking etc

- start car, only idle it

- cud be a good idea to have two ppl present, so someone can turn the car off ultra quick if something does happen.

The Fuel pressure reg is open fully at idle, so with the return hose off, fuel will pump out nice and quick draining the tank.

Some ppl use the turn key off and on a thousand times method..... ::)

Use the factory sock if at all possible, as the Walbro one is tiny and points upwards = makes fuel surge worse! Found this out the hard way :(

Agreed, Re use the OE sock, it's angled 45 degrees, whereas the Walbro is at 90 making it further away from the fuel level.

Yeah, i used the factory sock, brendon at GFB who sold it to me advised this also.

And that was pretty straight forward, i'm amazed at how much smaller the walbro is over the factory pump. Seriously half the size! But the car starts and runs and revs fine, just gotta go for a test drive.

i still can't get over the size difference....

Yeah its noticably smaller, feels like a downgrade from that perspective, luckly they are a proven performer :)

Sweet as. Just tried a few pulls at 1.35 bar (20psi) up to 8 grand, and not a single problem to report, the little sucker certainly is up to the task. Would love to get a proper air/fuel reading at those numbers thought to be sure, for now i'll leave i at 1.25 bar like always (18psi)

No. Course not. tested it slowly, building up and up making sure i couldn't hear anything untoward.. And i never boost when the engines cold too.

Sorry, just feeling mechanical sympathy for your engine.

Do not doubt you look after it ;)

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
