Yeah I looked at doing Superlap this year - but when I saw who was coming and they thought they could be lapping in the 1.10 or quicker range round Manfield it put me off as I cant compete with that. So very much a case of he with the biggest wallet wins.

I think you would have to run classes somewhat like how super lap does. But also have some limits to power or level of mods in the lower classes to allow for street cars etc.

In the UK recently they held a subaru only competition various classes based on the level of modifications. That seems a sensible way of keeping costs under control

NZGT is interesting and the format provides good racing.

Going back to WRC for a moment, I just had a look at the regs for this years Rally NZ - $2600 entry fee for the event... Then you have to run Pirelli tyres if you run in 4WD class. And you have to buy notes, buy WRF fuel at nearly 5 euros per litre (not compulsory to run this fuel but makes sense if you want to be competitive) and pay for recce on top of that. Easy way to spend $5k just to get to the event... Then you add in accomodation and service crew costs and your looking at a very expensive weekend given your only racing for 3 days.

However, if this really is going to be the last one, Im tempted to do the Possum Bourne part of the rally (last day of the event and massively cheaper). Working out what I can afford now.

Its sounds by all reports the govt is going to increase funding for the event so it maybe back as a full round of the wrc. If you can spend $1m to send some snowboarders to canada, $1m for an event in NZ doesn't seem to hard an ask.

Anyways I suspect if the WRC did go the NZ Rally would continue and become the FIA round in the Asia Pacific championship.

Very true, only time will tell.

As for part of the APRC - I think Whangarei would fight that pretty aggressively, they managed to drag it away from Rotorua previously, so would be interesting to see what happened. I reckon the APRC is a better spectacle anyway. More cars that are actually based on road cars and a bit more variety due to the lesser costs. However no S2000.

for me the group A days were really great, cars are similar in alot of aspects to what you can buy off the dealer, they can cost alot if you want but can be done cheaper with ok results. the WRC rules were ment to bring more makers to the game.............but it kind of worked untill 2003 when hyundai, seat, mitsubishi all bailed thru lack of results and costs also the pugs later on for other reasons. rally NZ is a classic as is the monte, why you would drop such universally popular rallies because (im thinking there getting big money offers from the middle east) they can make a larger buck elsewhere is rubbish. isnt the point to advertise for the competing teams? i dont know about u but desert rallies are as boring as feck

yeah they might sell 30 brand spanking new cars in NZ population but over in the middle east they might sell 300...so the advertising dollar is better spent there. that's all i see it as...and the end of the day... they might make more sales buy sponsoring the news, than running a rally :(

AGREED !

Race cars that really were based on road cars.

Limited production requirements (2500 in one year) that produced such greats as the BMW 635CSi, M3, Sierra Cosworth, Commodore SS Group A, Lancia Delta Integrale, Mercedes Coswoth 190E, Skyline GT-R, Mitsi Evo, Soob Legacy, Impreza WRX etc.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
