Has anyone used ferodo ds2000s on the track?

Rang up race brakes and picked their brains about pads for my v7 sti that could deal with "light" track use.

They put me on to the ferodo ds 2000.

What success have any of you guys had with these pads?

On my old Commie I found the TS2000's needed to warm up a bit to get the best out of them i.e. by the time you'd scrubbed 40kph they'd hit operating temp and then they'd really bite. In fact, from memory they could be a little scary when cold.

I also found I could get them to fade, it took a little effort but it was possible.

I went to Mintex M1166's after that. They were better when cold, just as good when hot and I never got them to fade.

Hard to say as I didn't put Ultimates into the Commodore after the Mintex pads. Basically, after the Mintex pads, I wasn't going to anything else.

I've got Ultimates in the Legacy with 4 pots on the front and I've found them to be a little disappointing... in saying that, Shale knows how hot they've been ;)

How do they compare to Bendix Ultimates?

Next step up.

I remember SpotMe now, he's probably the only person to ever fade TS2000's on the street ?

::)

A classic case of the wrong tool for the job ?

:D

I'm so lost lol!

I never (and I mean NEVER) got the Mintex 1166's to fade :)

REEOW, some serious vagoo happening in here.

I was also running (very worn out) Ultimates when we were baking eggs on your wheels, Mark... really enjoyed those pads. They wear out relatively quickly and smoke like a b*tch, but they are SO. MUCH. MORE. RESPONSIVE. than the crap that's in now. Really, really miss those pads :'(

I'm certain there's better out there though. Those were excellent street pads...better than these dang things that seem a wee bit ABS-happy in comparison...

Possibly. I probably needed to drive gently around a little longer to let the wheels cool down. No sign of any damage though.

I was impressed they picked up that much heat from the hubs actually! Then again, being the factory wheels, I suspect the spokes are hollow as they're very light so it wouldn't take much to heat them up.

I reckon my next brake upgrade should be some directed venting rather then higher temperature pads ;)

As in, slotted? ;D You'll need both in which case, with many applications of the latter.

WTF!! Lol! I feel I'm missing a whole lot of innuendo!

Nope, I wasn't thinking slotted... that isn't going to help things stay cool, I mean directed cold air at the calipers.

i wanted to do something like that, do you just point the flexi toward the brakes or does it have to be close to the brakes? if so how d you mount it so its not in the way ?

How you'd route it would depend on how much space there is at full lock, you might have to run the hose along the bottom of the chassis rail until you got to the strut and then run it up and secure it there aimed at the caliper.

Same friction material as the TS2000.

Good for casual track use.

Affordable.

I got quoted $550 incl gst for fronts and backs for mine from racebrakes for ds2000, that's pretty decent isn't?

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
