You're allowed them.

Certification is never required as long as in-service requirements for condition and performance are met.

yea i won them haha sweet it is a good deal thats gret info i allways thought it was only the ones withy the yellow tags that could be used and not needed to be certed

It pays to keep an eye on the cerification thresholds as they like to change stuff every once in a while. Especially if someone tells you that you can't do something.

I've just read this as well.

Was surprised to see that any turbo substitution or ECU modifications require cert.

Good thing most WOF guys don't know what size turbos come on our cars, otherwise it could make the vf22 swap a bit difficult.

Or am I interpreting that bit wrong.

I beleive it only applies to non-oem modifications.

On the second to last page it specifically says cert is required for turbo cars.

Seems a bit un-fair considering some v-tec hondas put down similar power and could equally benefit from an ECU chip.

IIRC you dont need to be certed if your increase is within a certain percentage of the factory power rating.

But as mentioned there is the note stating that "Certification is Always require for the fitting of a supercharger or turbocharger as a modification, or the substitution of a turbocharger or wastegate, or the re-chipping of ECU's in turbo cars."

So you are supposed to get a cert even if you swap your vf23 for a vf24.....

I guess as said 99% of wof men wouldnt know what the standard turbo is on a subaru or a given year.

Would make it a bit more obvious though having a twisted setup, although I never failed on it.

Fitting a turbo engine into a previously non-turbo powered chassis is a modification.

Requires a cert. And a hoop around the driveshaft. Read the whole pdf.
