Does the sti ra ecu control the boost presure? just wodnering what i'd be running without any controller yet?

yes it will control boost on its own through your factory boost solenoid, should run around 1 bar (14.7psi)

but yea you really do need a boost gauge so you know whats going on, as above supercheap/repco do them pretty cheap.

there are exceptions to some nevers ;D ;D ;D

Like what?? "except if you're a moron who likes to unnecessarily break stuff because you had no way to tell what you were doing except listen out for breaking noises then back it off slightly?"

fair comment.........seems then I have been breaking a cardinal rule for the last 2 years

but yours has been tuned for a set psi isnt it?

repco gauges are cheap blake7

tuned on the dyno yeah.......over the last 2 years I've run the boost via boost tap between 16-19psi. Everything tuned in thru the unichip. I've never run a boost gauge......just a personal choice

So you set it to 16-19psi by ear?? Or with the use of a gauge that reads boost?

No-one has said anything about the gauge having to be in there all the time, but setting boost via a tap (or any other means) without a gauge is just plain old stupid which is what you were advertising earlier.

I think you've misunderstood Koom........when I read Jedi's post I thought he was talking about running a boost tap and also having to run a boost gauge at the same time....the 2 together......full time

If you've read anything else into that.......then let's just put it down to words on screens and how they can sometimes be interpreted diffrerently.

yes......the tuner obviously used a gauge to set the boost..........but no........I don't run a boost gauge in the car (even though I run a boost tap) and never have......I hope that's cleared it up for you

Its not me that needs to understand that, its the people wanting the information. If some people see that someone has mentioned a boost gauge not being needed, and they want to save some cash, they could then assume they'll be fine going out and buying a boost tap and sticking it in their car without being able to tell what its now running at.

Then, they'll either come back complaining about

a) their car being slower than before

b) their car making rattling noises under load from the engine bay somewhere

or worst c) complaining that their engine is now bung cause of how they read information gleened from this website.

It pays to make sure that people have all the information on a given situation. Its the same with giving out info as to when people are asking questions, if they only give half the story everyone starts telling them they need to give more info before anyone could help them.

I've fitted the gfb boost tap and a gauge. Running 15 psi pretty consistantly and good power. Fitting the intake pipe/bov/pod/box next week.. gotta love the sound of a dirty ej20 boosting.. ;D

Does anyone know if the panel filter is the same in the BF5's as the WRX / STI ones? Looking at getting an aftermarket one instead of a pod now..

To be honest the standard filter will probably do the job just as well!

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
