What are the main benefits of a 18/20G wheel over a 16G wheel? Looking at buying a TD05H-18G instead of the standard TD05H-16G.

They are bigger so they can make more power potentially. It will take longer to spool up.

Your probably not at the limit of the 16g atm.

There was a thread recently on an english forum that they managed to safely pull 396hp (295kw) out of a td05 big 16g with supporting mods so they are a pretty potent turbo even in that form, the 18 and 20g are likely to be under less stress at that power tho.

22g 20g even 18g will not suit a stock or mildly modified ride, a 16g will outflow a stock GC STI setup.

22g seems to be some other wheel Steve M uses, maybe a garrett of some sort that is a bit bigger than a 20g?

Dyno numbers are just that, over time with averaged results you will find the 16g will do "about" 340-360hp, 18g 360-390ish and the 20g 360-420ish depending on setup of cause.

You will start finding limits of the td05 turbine at some point with the 20g or bigger, some have found good results using the 18g - not lost alot of power over the 20g but gaind better spool.

The best i have heard of with a td05 20g is 440hp at the engine on a 2L but that was with some other fuel, maybe lots of meth.

I believe Steve offer's a 22g TD06 comp housing upgrade, a few of them have popped up here and OZ.

Can't say what the wheel is based on though, he is certainly doing good work with later gen VF series turbos.

311kw@wheels with IHI VF36.

The Steve M one ive been offered is a td05/td06 mix with a 22g wheel that your talking about. You think it would be a good upgrade? I have all the mods to support it and i would say the fueling is the only hold back i have. I would need bigger injectors and a new pump prob

You wont go too far wrong with one of steve's turbos, just make sure it is one of his and not some china rip off.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
