According to EVO magazine (reliable source), it's mostly a standard car, but the differences are pretty significant. It's got an aluminium bonnet from a Spec C (can anyone comfirm that the standard STi comes with a steel bonnet? Doesn't seem right somehow....), and the turbocharger and 6 pot brakes from the R205 special edition.

Yes Sti has a steel bonnet...

I can't see the standard STi 4 pots making it significantly slower or a steel bonnet for that matter.

So a faster time with a driver suited to Dry tarmac?

Say a Tarmac specialist rally driver?

no, but I can see some gravel experienced drivers going faster on damp tarmac than dry.

It might sound like crap, but some people just drive in a way that doesn't suit lot's and

lot's of grip.

EDIT: I might be talking complete sh1t.

Tommi won a number of rallys on dry tarmac, im rather certain he would be faster on a grippy track, but there may be some type of advantage for a car like that in cooler, dense air, i know from BMI videos that at fuji the turbo stock cars were like 2 seconds slower in the summer than the winter

great video, looked like he could have made up a few seconds in a couple of places....

especially the bad downshift to 2nd! 9000+rpm!!!

he's a pro driver so got the best he could out of it in the conditions, there will always be a few mistakes on a lap so long.

I reckon on a good dry sunny day he could knock 5-10 secs off that at least!

I'd imagine the subtle mods they did will be encompassed into a new Spec C or whatever and then Subaru will probably release a Nurburgring special!

Fantastic. Loved the ending. I was thinking, "oo that's a bit tight" on the last corner, then sure enough, rally time!

hurr i could see where you were going, by the looks of it tommi was a good match for the conditions, rally drivers really have a dont give a F!@K style, it is more than twitchy under brakes but he seems unphased

testing the new spec c I reckon, good to see its in sedan form not the stupid hatch back

im pretty sure if he can handle full balls-to-the-wall WRC stages very sideways a little twitchiness would not phase him!

looking at that sedan, it looks alot more true to the GC8 than any other Impreza 2001 onwards... for exampe the headlights are almost the same dimentions, just a little curvyer.

i like it. Sedan FTW!
