Tommi Mak back in a Subaru

Recommended Posts

that was maximum attack tommi at the end, sounds like its a jdm model with an exhaust of some kind, dont know how they got it to go that fast, the spec c's of old are still faster around tsakuba

Looked a fair bit more than whatever brochure power limit the are quoting nowadays.

Still. Anything under an 8 is pretty good. Considering visibility was not the best, and track conditions appeared to be slightly damp.

Damp track, perfect conditions for a rally driver.

It is quite likely that whatever modifications were done to the car were bolt on changes and will end up in the STi parts catalogue. They have to field test them somehow. I doubt Bragging Rights is a sufficient business case to do bespoke chassis and engine work that is never intended to go to market. Especially for such a low volume manufacturer. All conjecture on my behalf of course.

According to reports, the vehicle used in this testing was equipped with a few significant upgrades including a larger turbocharger that normally sees duty in the Japanese R205 model and some lightweight aluminum bits

from the same page as the video

so its basically a spec C ? or is that spec C type RA - RRRRRRRRRrrrrrr

Ive seen rumors of a spec c sedan coming out, maybe this was a development mule for this?

I would suggest that this is the most likely option, however in recent years the Spec C's havnt had more power than normal have they? I thought they were just lighter?

There are quite a few differences as I'm sure the Spec C crowd can enlighten us on to the last infinitesimal detail. Perhaps a little more power, but usually a different turbo (VF34 instead of VF30 in single scroll, VF37 instead of VF36 in twin scroll?). Suspension/ chassis geometry changes seem to feature highly. There are also the special editions; the RA-R as Nick said, and the S20x series.

Damp track, perfect conditions for a rally driver.

Agreed, But not for setting a benchmark on the Nordschleife.

if the conditions suit the driver, why not?

Your the racer.

Since when do damp conditions equal a faster lap?

Do you not think he would have gotten a better time on dry conditions?

Some people can only drive one way, sideways. A damp track makes that easier, so

think it's possible for such a person to drive faster on a damp track. A wet track

on the other hand will probably be slower.

So a faster time with a driver suited to Dry tarmac?

Say a Tarmac specialist rally driver?

no, but I can see some gravel experienced drivers going faster on damp tarmac than dry.

It might sound like crap, but some people just drive in a way that doesn't suit lot's and

lot's of grip.

EDIT: I might be talking complete sh1t.

Not untrue. Karts are faster with some slight sideways action...but i mean very very slight. Too much grip only slows you down on corner exit and top speed.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
