So how would one go about making a NA legacy a bit quicker?

K,

So I went and got myself a 2002 TS-R for work. Didn't want a turbo as the extra 1.2l/100k adds up pretty quick when you clock 65,000k's a year.

But how could I make it a little perkier or more powerful?

Just seems a little weak on the hills, but everwhere else is fine.

buy a turbo...

To make an N/A subaru faster/more powerful requires a bucket-load of money, far more than the 1.2L/100 x 65 000km...

but if you have to 2" exhaust... manual gearbox...

I'd only own an auto when my left leg gets chopped off!

I figured it'd be breathing mods, was wondering if there was a ecu/chip remap or something.

There's also the insurance and running 95ron when going NA over turbo, not just econony figures.

JAMIE! YOUR BACK! So you sold your Forester for the TS-R?

Prob go with freeing up the breathing and decat the exhaust. Might make a noticeable difference? I remember back when i had my pulsar i got better economy with a slightly bigger exhaust from the cat back and a little more power (or the power was in my head because of the rps exhaust).

Foz is there but for the weekends.

Traded in my old european deathtrap for the legacy.

My first legacy and after a week, I reckon it's the comfiest, safest feeling thing to sit in all day at 100kmh.

Quite scary though as it has the same wheel and gear knob as the forester and I have to remember it's not the same car and I can't overtake on a whim

don't waste your money on mods, just drive it like you don't own it.

This.

Not in a boy racer like way though.

you can do a pod filter and exhaust mods..

pod will give it a noticable gain on sound above 4000rpm..

make sure its secured tho or you could risk dropping the afm due to excess movement.

exhaust maybe some headers and a nice flowing mid pipe/exhaust..

failing that... well how long is a piece of string?

do you wana spend buckets of money on it?

1. Free up the intake, not with a pod though, you don't want it sucking in hot engine bay air.

2. Free up the exhaust with a 2" - 2.5" system.

3. Give it a dose of upper engine cleaner.

4. Reset the ECU.

5. Straight after the reset, go and give it a damn good aggressive drive, and get it to learn some performance data.

of course, everyone knows if you want to have a pod filter, you should only use a pod with a cold air box and snorklectomy 8)

My thoughts sofar are a catback off a GTB if they're any bigger than NA.

And the thing is 200kg heavier than the foz at 1680 according to the recycle station weighbridge.

i doubt it would be 200kg heavier than a forester... but ya never know.

The rear section may bolt up to yours. I doubt the centre section will though.

my own research a while ago said it was 1350kg but that seems a bit light

Subies stats are all done with the vehicle dry.

There's over 10l of oil, plus brake fluid, power steering 5l of water, screenwash and a tank of gas to add on to that

THis could be ok, but living in the country I'm often in puddles that'd hydrolock my engine before you could say "induction noise"

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
