water noise

hi all, hey when I start the car first thing I get a lot of water running noise coming from behind the dash, like a pump has come on and is pushing water around, is it the heater system or maybe the water cooling for the turbos?

Yep it's the heater system. It one of those noises you'l either have to live with, or try and fix. There is a work around on here somewhere with diagrams, but I don't know if there's a sure-fire way of getting rid of it 100%

Yeah I had it on my old GTB.. I learned to put up with it.

Yeah i have found that it just something some twin turbo have as i've try bleeding my system to death but it always comes back...

I've just cleaned out my entire cleaning system with a flush, water blaster, water etc but still hasn't got rid of that noise

Turning up the stereo always works a treat

lol I will try that, I only hear the sound on startup so its not a big deal

mines a bit different, only happens when i have my foot down in a too high gear, not when i start up.

we might have to look at bleeding yours jono the most common error to cause that sound is bleeding the coolant system without the heater on as it doesn't go through the heater core leaving air trapped inside

I should be around home on saturday if you wanted to pop around provided the weather is nice

bleed it with the car pointed up a steep hill drive.

its an airlock / bubble in the heater core.

I have the same watery/squishy noise, it seems to go away with high revs.

We bled friend's subaru b4 coolant system to death (took us hour...) and it doesn't have that sound. But I yet to do the same with our b4, as soon as special water wetter arrives...

yup also had the noise on my TT after doing the rad hoses, mine wasnt there all the time tho, was kinda weird at 1st but i get used 2 it

Correct in most cases however i have read that the twin turbo do it more often than not because of those extra little lines which are near impossible to bleed all of the air off of

However something crazy like an hour long bleed might do the trick but also a waste of gas lol

i dont have the water noise but when you crank the heater up it stinks of glycol for abit. small leak in the core maybe? Its only when you crank the temp up though. Maybe i should bleed it.

Subaru heaters a constant flow type, there is no heater tap in the coolant line

Try getting a workshop with a vacuum bleeder to sort it

Failing that fit a "T" piece in both heater hoses (16mm straight thru on the "T" ) and either 10 or 12mm on the remaining part of the "T"

Join these two smaller hoses together and this wil fix ya problem
