what is ur standard car boosting?

mine used to do 18ish stock and closer to 19/20 with a 3 inch TBE

a "reputed" mechanic seems to reakon that they should only be doing 1bar aka 14.7 psi

i laughed at that but thought to as here to confirm

Not sure as my version 8 already had a boost tap installed, but also heard they do 18 pound standard?

my V7, total stock under the hood, has been running 1.42kg/cm or 20psi all the time.

My mechanic also said should be 16 - 18 psi.

I'm not complaining though

Although I'm not running that high... dyno found no power advantage for anything over 18 psi.

Just went through this myself a little while back.

Actually rang Subaru NZ head technical manager to get a concrete answer. Although his answer was that if you were to take 5 stock V7 STIs they would all be different. He did say though that 16 was common.

I asked RLP who didn't know but said that their A/M exhaust system increased boost to 22 psi, but according to them wasn't harmful on engine, adding they had sold 300+ of them.

Discussed boost with Akld Subaru Specialists, ST Hitech, Wingers, even Steve Murch who agreed with the above in that all STIs varied, but 16 sounded right from experience.

None of the above suggested 14.7 (at least not to my understanding).

mine boost between 1.3-1.5 bar, stock standard i think, with only aftermarket tail exhaust, they should handle bit more power than earlier factory engines i would think.... but not to fond of the boost coming on late tho like 3800rpm grrr...

With a 3" exhaust and a VF34, mine would boost to 20psi, then gradually fall back to 14psi at redline.

mines got 3" from the down pipe back so mid section and rear. his was factory everything. ill let u guys know when iv got my stock standerd version 7 sti which hopefully wont be to long

My money is on it being 16 psi if it is truly stock and not played with.

Mine is dead stock and reads 21psi on the guage tapering off to 18 at redline. Guess it all depends on how accurate the guage is.

If you put most stock newage Sti's on a dyno they do something like above. Thats how they are setup from the factory. With all the extra weight they gained over classic Sti they gave them more boost in the mid range to help acceleration.

There is no one boost figure as its different along the rpm curve

Most boost gauges are not that accurate

My V9 ran 21psi. did get a peak of 23psi. Had 2.5" exhaust and FMIC. But was running rich due to mods.

Version 8 Sti here, just a catback exhaust, and around 20psi tapering to 15ish at redline.

Is it just me or do the newer STI's not seem to kick the way the older STI's do? My old v4 was running 1.2bar with 3" turbo back and really stuck me back in the seat but all the v7's Ive been test driving dont seem to boost nearly as hard. :-\

thats just the way the stock ecu deliveres power bro

I do miss the old kick I had in my V2, personally I find the power delivery alot smoother and enjoy it more in regards to driving round twisty roads.
