BH5 Twin Sunroofs?

Excuse the noob question, but are both sunroofs supposed to open on the BH5 wagons?

Only our back one opens electronicaly, but looking through the gap in the headline, it looks like the front one is on rails aswell? Is something poked or is the front meant to be sealed?

Front raises, the rails are for the trim panels that move back by hand only.

The rear moves electronically, the trim moves by hand but when closing it the sunroof will close the trim as well.

So the front should tilt at the same time the rear slides open? I assume as theres only one button.

No there is one rocker switch. The front one should tilt up first and then the rear one should slide back, the rear one will pull back the blind as it opens. And the reverse happens when you close it.

I'm pretty sure you release the button after the front one has opened and press the button again to initiate the back one opening.

It has been awhile since I've used mine as I sealed it up because it self destructed and leaked.

Il take a video of mine (mines a BP but all the same as said above) and show you how its supposed to work.

essentiall 99gtb is correct; first the front bit tilts up, then the bigger glass slides back via one button

The front pane in my BG5 only acts as a method of increasing the light inside the front of the cabin

Mine also only tilts, but is quite small

Hmmm, weird! The back opens sweet, but the front does nothing when you push the button.

Had a look tonight, and I am able to physically push the front one up about 15mm.

Here's the switch

Might have to pull the whole headliner out and have a look :-\

DON'T DO THAT!!

lol well you could, but just make sure you put it back on when you're done, unlike me lol been years without a complete interior, boot lining and headliner still missing.

Probably won't help much though, you could try putting a little weight on it as you push the button.

Have a look at the mechanism and gears themselves, they may be out of alignment or busted up/etc...

I have a bg 5 with two sunroofs, back works fine. Front doesn't push up with button, or by hand and doesn't make any sound (no gears/motor noise like back sunroof).

Is there a common part that fails?

Old topic i know... but handy

i was wondering the same thing as i push the switch and it makes a noise but the front one dosnt open, then push again and the back opens half way, then push a 3rd time and the back opens fully.

was beginning to think the front one didnt open at all

then the otherday in the heavy rain we had, i got a whole load of leakage through the switch and maplight housing...

I put the car in the garage and forgot about it.

think ill have to open her up and have a tinker...
