About a year ago I sold my asbolutely mint as NZ new 2001 GTB wagon ( House reno's ). Im now at the point where I can get back on the wagon as it were.. I've been shopping around for a while but now its crunch time - I'm cut up between getting a GTB 05 turbo leggy wagon or a rather decent 2004 3.0R version with rather low mileage.. both manual's.

Anyone got any comments on comparisons ? I've driven both and like both. Im attracted to the 3.0R for a number of reasons but most of them boring and responsible.. ( cam chain etc )

Anyone got any decent info on spec's / power output ?

Im also interested in deciphering the VIN plate 'model' types and subbie feature codes - anyone got a link handy ?? I've seen a few touted GTB's on the market that someone has merely placed a Bilstien badge on...

Soz.. clubsub!

Cheers monkey.

Wiki lists the 4th gen leggys with comparible stats, although i've nothing to compare this info against :

Models Type (code) Power, torque@rpm

2.0GT 2.0L H4 turbo (EJ20) 245 PS (180 kW; 242 hp)@6000, 320 N·m (240 lb·ft)@3200

3.0R 3,000 cc (3.0 L; 180 cu in) H6 (EZ30) 245 PS (180 kW; 242 hp)@6600, 297 N·m (219 lb·ft)@4200

I have a 3.0R-B manual and an auto 2.0GTB.

The 3.0R is excellent. Performance is very good for a 3.0 and also reasonable on gas. The turbo has more mid range torque but probably not as much top end power in auto form.

It also sounds wicked with a bit of an exhaust on it.

I have had no issues with my 3.0 at all in 40k's of ownership.

In manual the 2.0 turbo will be faster than the 3.0 easily.

If not modifying the car past an exhaust/intake/tune then the 3.0 is easily the better choice for me. Fully recommend it.

If I was buying again I would get a GTB manual as I have already reached the limit of practical mods on my 3.0.

If the 3.0 is 6 speed then it will have Bilsteins and different wheels.

All GTB's should have Bilsteins, and also have the GTB bumper. Just check the shocks, they should be yellow.

Spec for 3.0R:

Maximum power 244.3 PS (241 bhp) (179.7 kW)@ 6600 rpm

Maximum torque 297.0 Nm (219 ft·lb) (30.3 kgm)@ 4200 rpm

Spec for GTB:

Maximum power

JIS 279.8 PS (276 bhp) (205.8 kW)@ 6400 rpm

Maximum torque

JIS 343.0 Nm (253 ft·lb) (35 kgm)@ 2400 rpm

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
