Angle grinding accident

from what google can tell me the lady tried to clear a blockage in a paper shredder, and she did not succeed in clearing said blockage, instead replacing the blockage with her hand, nice

deff... sick yep, when i was in the boning room our first aid lady put her fore arm thru the skinner from wrist to elbow but i dont have a picture of that just the image still in my head, & the fella who slipt & stabbed himself right under the arm & got a vain (we have no sick emotion :-X)

hmm those falls were awesome, just stopped at some rest area to take the dogs for a run round and then saw all these people standing on a viewing platform pointing and ooohing and aaaaahing at something so went to see what all the fuss was about and theres a bloody great waterfall there haha was just out of murchison on our way back home from motueka

That thinly sliced hand was one that went in a paper shredder.

Angle grinders are nasty because they don't just cut, they grind out a chuck of tissue so it's actually missing. Sometimes you can't just stitch things up if too much is missing. I fix a lot of angle grinder injuries at work.

There's a PP presention on our work server which is used in inductions and training.

It shows a few of the incidents which has happined on this site. Grinder cuts, falls, and whats left of someone after they have fallen into a tank of Caustic soda.

But shows you how easy it is for somthing to go wrong. Take the right steps before hand and wear the right protective gear (PPE)

i have a 30 cm scar up my back from where they put two titanium rods in my back, nice neat scar too! and they are that good you cant even see the scars on my face, even tho there were 30 stitches in there!!

we also watched health and safety videos during my apprenticeship, the worst injuries were from loose clothing or hair grabbed by tractor pto shafts - includin the lady who got scalped, and the only reason her own face didnt suffocate her was because someone held her forehead up!!

Ok this DEMANDS an explanation

I have wee scars on my right shoulder and wrist done some endoscopic repairs a lot of work, a lot of damage only little scars

Iv had a few close calls with cuting blades on grinders getting caught and breaking apart.

Though this is caused by cutting on the wrong part of the blade and on the wrong angle.. So if you use an angle grinder correctly you shouldn't have any kick back issues as the blade should ride up the material rather then bite in to it.

I prefer to stick to my gas powered soildering iron and leave the angle grinding to our fabricator.. as atleast if I burn myself it doesn't hurt as it quaterises (I think thats the word and I can't spell to save myself) the skin almost instantly due to the tempature its at.
