weird clacking noise from front brakes

I have a weird clacking sound coming from my front brakes , its really noticable and seems to clack on each rotation of the wheel.It goes away with a gentle push of the brake pedal.Had the same prob on my previous legacy.Any help would be appreciated.

Does the noise speed up or slow down according to the speed the car is traveling?

seems to speed up.someone mentioned that there is a rubber grommet or something that wears out but I really dont know where to look.

could be a stone in their somewhere or just loose shims..have a habit of rattling around when the pads get down abit.

If it's a stone caught in there, you'd know; it sounds like the car is riding on the disc instead of the wheel, bloody loud.

youd be surprised how many people drive around with stones in their brake system and dont even notice the loud screeching noise lol...mostly female (sorry)

check to see that ya wheel nuts are on tight. worth a try, failing that take it to a brake place like magoo's for a free brake check

I wld have bet shims or maybe one of the clips holding them in...personal experience.

could be pad knock off but we wont know until you tell us if theyr 4pot or 2?

Mine made a soft 'clacking' when I put on new slotted rotors, still does after 6 months. Experts have all given it a clean bill of health

you could try putting anti seize on the backing plate of the pad and on the end bits that touch the pad carrier... ya know what i mean????

my rear 1 did that and man it was anoying when driving with windows down, was a small metal clip that was on the brakes that was missing and they were moving, think my front 1 is the same now but only when i turn left but not when im braking and turning, stupid cars

No. no luck.I'd already checked all the obvious stuff like shims etc b4 i posted this question.And stones and loose wheel nuts really had me wondering if I was asking the right question. Its abit of a rainy day here in Hamtown so am guna take my wheels off and do abit more investigation. Cheers and thanks for the replies.
