Replacing only one tyre

What are peoples thoughts on replacing only one tyre as far as drivetrain stress goes?

Ive punctured one 215/40/18 toyo and need a replacement (the sidewall is slightly rooted)

The current tyres have done about 10000k and are still far from needing replacement.

OK to put one new one on?

if its the same make be sweet, been told mixing brands/tread patten is wat causes the stress

Im thinking going from a proxy 4 to a t1r - so sort of

I would not do it personally

it will play havoc with your centre diff

i think a difference of 10% rolling circumference was banded about as the cut of point....

I have not had this happen to a subaru but have had a AWD hiace which uses a viscous centre diff,seize its centre diff because of different tire size....

it was only about 5k to fix

Without trying the math, I guess 2-3mm over a rolling diameter isnt a lot. Arrrgh...stoopid kiwi road punctures mumble mumble......And on a long weekend.....

thats what diff's are for : go for it, mixing brands however is not recomended BUT not going to be noticeable

you MAY fail a WOF for having different brands (rules change daily so not sure if this still applies

As long as it's another 215/40/18 then you'll be fine. Don't know if T1R's come in that size though?

If you're going to change the size, then you'll want to replace all 4.
