have you checked the 16 or 20 pin multi plug on the driver strut tower

Check it for engine oil, if present you have issues that no tune will fix

refer my AVCS post under ENGINE section

yea bro thats what i was going to do - see the plugs but have not had a chance

if the avcs sensor is all oiled up - will i have this issue??

also - i may look into getting ur mod done on the avcs setup...

can i pull the sensor out without openinig up the intake manifold?

Sensor s can be removed from both banks without removing manifold - thay are a tight fit tho , need skinny fingers

hahaha skinny fingers i have...NOT damit lol

:-[

will need to find a skinny fingered mate for that..

if the sensors are bunged (perhaps the passenger bank ones?)

then will it cause me such grief u reakon?

hmmm some more research and i have a different theory to try -

what if the damm avcs is blocked/restricted on one side

that wud cause it to have uneven timing compared to the other side

(refer to ici ban and his posts abt the banjo bolt filter being possibly blocked as an issue on avcs heads)

will see if i can log the differences in the avcs

ichi ban could be onto it...........check for oil in your avsc plugs!..Hope its not internal damage. Compression test will reveal if it is or not. Then it must be electrical,.

Yea I'm thinking thats the path

I'm just waiting to get the compression test done to confirm no broke rings

Then next few ideas in place

Damm I cNt cross me fingers hard enough for good compression test

update:

compression test - ~135psi on all 4 cylinders

(been informed that is within spec and no leak as all are same ish so all good there)

logged AVCS angles

- the passenger side bank seems to have 53 degrees at idle and rises as revs rise a bit (only reved to 5500 ish rpm)

- the drivers side remains stuck at 0 no matter how the revs rise

--

outta comparizion i checked a working v7 sti and both sides avcs remain 0 at idle and rise together as revs rise

--

currently issue seems to point to avcs filter fallen in the valve and causing issue s

--

next step is to pull out the filter basket and also pull out the avcs solenoid and clean

--

will update how that goes

passenger side looks easy-ish but drivers side looks harder..ah well ...

as we discussed you only need to sort the passengers side for now

The 53deg IS the issue, and will be either the filter basket in the valve

or incorrect cambelt timing

yay the easier side ay bro... ;)

PS - why wud the driver side stay stuck at 0 degrees all the time tho?

normally as the revs rise the avcs degrees rise alongside...

do u think the avcs on passenger side is causing the constant 0 on the drivers side as well??

PPS. once i get this sorted im going to do a writeup with pics on a troubleshooting for v7 ppl (with credits to all thoes who have helped out)

issue sorted !!! ;D

opened the banjo bolt for the oil feed on the left (as the logs had indicated left side advanced)

found the banjo bolt filter - had mostly disintergrated

removed filter

started car - same issue - slightly beter (50 degrees advanced not 53 lol)

opened the avcs actuater and found a tiny piece of broken filter basket plastic in the lobes and jamming it open

removed it

put all back

started car... success ;D

will do another thread of writeup on the issue for others to follow

thanks to all who have helped with their suggestions and advice

major thanks to ichiban for giving me the confidence to do the job myself and pointing out the details

and also to crazymf for the vote of confidence and showing me to parts

and to teznu for helping with the compression test

Hey mate, glad you got this sorted, might check mine cause Ive just found some oil in the big connector by the driver side :(

is there any harm in removing the filter? Did you have any oil in your loom connector at all from this ?

thanks

Sweet, will need to do that, do you know if removing the filter then will stop the oils travelling in to the ECU looms ?? not smart design for oil to allow to go to the ECU :(

na bro - removing the filter will stop it fallinf in the avcs actuator and causing issues

to stop oil in loom - u gotta get ur avcs cam position sensors modded

iciban on here does modded sensors

i will be getting mine done soon

can do a writeup on that too so u (and other can follow) with puting the modded sensors eh

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
