Does any one in chch have a muffler for a v7wrx i can borrow to get cert??

Is a 2 1/2 inch exaust I think, need to get noise down to 92 for cert is currenlty at 96

Would be good if I could borrow one for a day so I can pass, cheers

Yea have already tried that got it down to 96 from 105, thought it might be easier to try borrow one before I try again

there's this material you stuff into your exhaust.it will also take it down a few db's

it's sort of this thick meshy stuff.dont 100% sure off the name of it

I think your thinking of goldilocks (unsure of spelling) ya no that wire sh1t you use to scrub dishes with lolol . It's just metal shavings pretty much

yehyeh same thing as you use for dishes.i used it on my skyline..i got it from 109 db down to 92.3db,all i added was a shit load of that stuff and a silencer,

now days silincer has to be welded so you cant remove it.

Yea few mates have told me about goldilocks, just not 2 sure about getting it back out again, I assume u just stuff it behind the silencer.

yupjust stuff it all in one bit.then when your done use a coat hanger and pull it all back out,thats what i did,also only tacked my sillincer in the exhaust so i could remove it easyer

I've been told a trick you can do is craft up a bit of steel with a smaller diameter hole in it to allow flow through, and use as a gasket between your muffler and center sections of your exhaust. Cuts flow down a lot, and also the noise. After your wof / cert, remove it and replace with normal gasket again.

Just don't boost with it in as it restricts the flow a lot.

Yea think i might have to do that, the guy doesn't seem to worried about having it welded in cause its not at the moment and he hand't said anything about it which is good, hopefully he won't look up it and look at the goldilocks, have already tried restricting flow but didn't make much difference to sound unfortunatly

If only I could give your my stock axle back muffler to fit on

Just ram steel wool up it with a broom handle. It'll all blow out after a week or 2.

EDIT: Just make sure it's not gonna blow out while they're doing the volume test, haha.

what does the exhaust consist of at the moment, I would add a centre Muffler as when it comes down to it 95db is the legal limit and it should be below that at ALL times so as we dont attract attention of the po po just make it legal in the long run waayyyyy easier ( i had to add a centre muffler on my RX as it was deemed to loud )

Yea thinking the best thing to do would be to put a center muffler in. Any advice on brands and were to buy + prices

At the moment its straight through all the way from turbo no cat etc untill muffler

go to ANY muffler shop and get a quote. report back with your findings.
