RS grille?

is this a gen 1 RS grille sitting hella frush on my 90 GT?

its black also. so makes me think its not original.?

Only reason I mentioned it was a pre facelift was because my first car was a facelift 91 legacy, and I couldn't figure out why my pre facelift grill didn't fit

Yep that's hella flush as it should be, S2 one's dont look right & are narrower in width & will stick out too, Trust me i tried fitting a S2 type

Correct the pre-facelift-S1 grill/headlights are all the same fit, be it a RS, GT, VZ, & the list goes on

the facelift-S2 has wider headlights & if you try fit a s2 grill onto a s1 you will notice that the grill has an ugly gap on either side of the grill & is sticking out like 30mm or so, it just doesnt look right

GT with silver waic? I was lead to believe the RS had the silver, GT had black and RS-RA of course was gold. Am I misinformed?

i think other than the gold RSRA one it was a year difference, 89 was black and had no level sensor ,90 on was silver with level sensor ...

I have 2 blacks and a silver at work

my 89 RS is silver with sensor and 91 GT is black without sensor. Both are stock in regards to WAIC.

Mine also was silver with a level sensor and its a very early 89.

hmm dont forget that previous owners may have swapped them around due to damages / peeling paint or bird strike or maybe even frontal impacts of the minor sort. also a few people actually remove the grille altogether and perhaps later replace it with another one

those last few comments have been about the colour ot the of the 'subaru turbo intercooled waic unit' in the engine bay.

Back to the grills, my RS & GT grills were both coated in that chrome look coating that does peel/wear it gets bad with the sun fade too,

i have painted both of them in satin black, i did know of a local white S1 BC5 rs/r (also badged type r) 10 years ago that had a matching white grill though

the 90 GT has a black WAIC.
