clutch fried?

Hello everyone!! Just curious to find out what's wrong with my forester before taking it to a workshop. The problem is when I'm in third fourth or fifth gear gradually accelerating the engine revs and there is no power just revvs I can drive it normally day to day in traffic to work but even if I try to build speed for things like motorway onramps or to get from 80-120 in a hurry it slipps up worse then a banana peel would this be due to a slight power and boost increase?

What's the going rate for clutch install labour these days ?

sounds very much like a clutch to me. Make sure its got fluid 1st i suppose. When they do your clutch make sure they do you rear main seal at the same time. Youll thank me later in life haha . Labour for box out n back in @ a workshop 4 hours id say. But frankley ive heard in some cases its easier to take the motor out. ( inside word from subaru app not me btw )

I paid around $300 in labour last year when I had mine done, plus a few bucks for fluids etc

Edit: Not at dealer. Dealer charged my mate like $1200 to install a NON TURBO clutch. Armstrong motors ffffuuuuuuu

Yup clutch is going/gone or there is oil on it, either way it is clutch time.

Yeah thought so there's heaps of clutch kits on trade me just been looking recently any advice or recomendations?pretty stock ej205 vf28 yellows etc 170-190kw nothing more this would be my first clutch change I've had to do usually don't hold on to cars for long before trading. What size clutch do I get 225mm or 230mm?

1200$ for a non turbo clutch!!!Icarumba!!heard sum thriller storys about armstrongs. I soo can't afford to be ripped off might try highbrook or penrose subaru specialists

go for highbrook, pick up an sti impreza clutch (same size, unless i'm horrendously mistaken) get them to install.... or get them to supply and fit.

mine will need doing soon... it shudders when its cold. not looking forward to that!!!!

why not learn something new and do it yourself?

im sure youl have a macanicly minded friend that wouldnt mid helping you for a few beers.

ahhh this bring back so so so so many bad memories... story time!

I once paid 1300 dollars to have my sti clutch done... they snapped an axle launching it and when i got my car back it had the strangest whine in first gear an was crunching gears an not boosting correctly. turns out they launched my gearbox on 2L of oil snapped an axle munched the first an second syncros an crackd/broke the intercooler plastic pipe an decided rather than replacing it they'd just put some electrical tap over it. 1300$ an 3 weeks later I was left with a car with whiney gearbox an new clutch, f*** you autotech chch

My advice, find out who are the subaru experts in aucks. get them to do it, and expect to pay around the 1000$ mark (parts included)

That really sucks.......Take them to small claims court.....They have no right to damage a car like that!

In aucks i am.And correct around a grand is a reasonable cost

forgot to mention they also jammed a ball bearing in the box an had to take the box to someone else to get it fixed lol

shits in the past now, move on to better faster stis
