Anyone recommend a good exhaust system

As title states, the car is a v7sti and its really loud! Sounds awsome but really dont need to be attracting trouble, and want to get wof easy, what do peolpe think of a rage system, or hks silent? Any other options? Thanks

I've got a cat back HKS Silent Hi Power exhaust which I've just taken off the race car. Really good cOndition. Was about to list up for 600. Will take some pics tomorrow if you are keen.

hks silent is nice till you get hard on the gas. then it rumbles nicely. a genome tip has a nice quiet rumble....

my experiances with rage, first on a v8 sti and on a gts25 skyline, is that its stupidly loud....

yeah put a silencer in the end if u want it quieter - go stock if u want it silent -

basically the quieter you got the less power your going to have - with turbos the less back pressure the better - less back pressure = louder no matter what way you look at it

genomes sound like ass IMO and they are still noisy as hell with a straght through 3 inch exhaust

To be honest I mostly agree with brad abt the while genome sounding like crap

At low revs it does not really sound manly lol

Used To have a genome Nd found the RPS made it sound more manly

Just my own opinion tho as I'm sure some Ppl seem to love the genome sound

If you can find something japenese with a "jasma" stamp on the muffler, its be quiet enough as Jasma spec is about 3-4 Db quieter than our legal limit in NZ

+1 for the HKS Silent Hi Power. Mine's 3" from turbo back and it's still nice and quiet just cruising around. WOT it starts to come alive.

Use to have an RPS system, was probably the best sounding exhaust if you really like the Subaru rumble but it was ridiculously loud, hence why I switched to HKS.

Zerosports World Leaguer sounds really nice IMO... kind of like an angry helicopter chasing you when you give it some jandal.

Thats Strange, Ive got a Rage system in my V7 and its surprisingly quiet, and thats a full 3" from downpipe with 1 resonator in the middle with ss muffler at the back, removable silencer. with the silencer it sounds almost stock

i asked the trade auction rage guy a Q if the exhaust was warrantable ie decibel reading and he said yep.

maybe yes on a stock catted downpipe, but maybe not with a decatted aftermarket downpipe

i have a type r and im running standard 3 inch midsection. 3 inch siamese down pipe and 3inch stainless at the end.

I have a full S/S 3" Exhaust system for turbo, Great sound, awesome power gains. Got it through Sublab here in Whangarei, Was not to badly priced either.

Would not recommend a 3" TBE unless your going to get your car tuned for it, also may want some other supporting mods as well....

Otherwise your just going to lose low down torque for top end horse power gains

If you don't do a 3" properly and just stick it on, your car will not perform as well and you'll regret it. Plus cos there is not a much resistance on the pipe the pitch will sound different (not as good), but the sound is definitely deeper.

I would recommend a 2.5"(unless you are going for supporting mods and retune), or just chop out the cats in the existing pipe

if your goin for any kind of performance gains 3 inch is mandatory and tuning is always a must after any mods just better to do em all at once then tune you can leave the back section 2.5 and still make gains the same as pappu has shown but his tuning is the reason why it still does as for the low down torque by the ass dyno can say I lost zilch and gained a bit more as the turbo gets up on boost faster just my opinion though
