Strut Brace Question

Recommended Posts

i have a 04 wagon (see below)

strut braces from v7,8,9 will fit (i have one) and more than likely the v10 will as well

i got mine 2nd hand from a guy on here, its one of those carbon looking ones

i have a rear sway bar from whiteline and a H brace from ultrex in australia

i like buying handling sh!t for some reason, so when funds see fit will get more, ie: front sway bars etc

let me know if you have any questions

Cheers, the one I'm 99% sure I'm buying is White too, like yours

So, you've got one of those STi carbon braces, like the one in this auction? http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/subaru/sti/auction-423844183.htm

Just want one really, as I say, every car I've had has got one, and I notice the difference (mostly not chewing out the edges of the tyres)

Even though the earlier V5/6 ones are different mounting hole location, will they fit if I re-drill the holes?

This one?

Apologies if I've stolen the pic someone on here....

I'm not sure that those do much to be honest, they weigh almost nothing...(and they're hollow). Should take mine off and see if I notice a difference

*Well, I'm not sure that THOSE ones are hollow, but the other ones sti carbon ones are and it doesn't weigh 3/5ths of jack all so I assume it's the same

Just because theyr light and hollow doesnt mean they wont change how the car drives... even if its the smallest change

Which is why I said "much" instead of "anything". Aftermarket ones are universally a lot more chunky

Subaru wouldnt spend all that time and money developing something for a car if it wasnt needed.. I can see what your saying and i agree.. There are beefy ones out there... But id be interested to see the difference between standard and aftermarket..

They only really need to be rigid in compression. Its not like they form part of a roll cage which has to withstand impact etc. They just need to stop the strut towers moving together when cornering. More weight that needed to preform the task is bad engineering and bad juju in general :P

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
