What would short fuse on amp???

Had fuse(30)pop on amp and tried to replace and it pops straight away,tried turning amp settings etc on low head unit off.next I will try new earth wire somewhere else before higher fuse.just wondering is there anything else that could be the issue?

another option is to check where you ran the wiring - to the headunit, leads, etc.

some 'odd' occasions find they get damaged or crimped or caught in between things and expose themselves.

Fuse will pop even with all other wires out.if I add power or earth POP,mabe I should plug all in with power(battery) fuse out and see if that will work.wont solve the issue of why it popped the 1st place.tried searching net and only came back with add higher fuse.

faulty amp? you're talking about the fuses on the amp themselves and not an inline fuse right?

Normally using the same rated one as the oem one would be fine...

yeeaahh... if its the fuse in the amp, your amp is buggered....

could be internal short - burnt connection inside the amp - had this once and herd its common on powerplant amps

but check the wiring first also

DO NOT put a bigger fuse in - you will just cause whatever it is thats the problem to become worse and or melt wiring etc

Yeah was wiring issue at first they kept popping out(fixed by soldering wires).just a case of long weekend curse lol last one was speedo cable and now this,anyway I put it down to amp as everything else is fine.ill try see if I can take back to be fixed

State that it was installed by a professional and that you did not do anything to it except replace the fuse...

What kind of amp. Powerplants suffer from this often. On them it's caused by reversed speaker pluxarity. I.e some dick had put the + and - channels for your speaker wires the wrong way round.

Subs wernt touched its enclosed sub box with in built amp and was going for a month before issue came up.(fussion b spec I think)

reversing speaker polarity should not affect your amp at all

i would say it is probably a faulty power supply within the amp

Hooking up speakers backwards won't pop an amp. Hooking up power and ground backwards will usually instantly pop all the fuses on the end. If that parts fine, it's either a short in a transformer winding (pretty uncommon) or blown mosfet/s in the power supply section. And depending on the amp, often the power section only blows because there's a short circuit in the output section...
