Thoughts on after market rocker cover seals?

need to replace the rocker cover seals in my 96 sti , anyone had any issues with aftermarket rocker seals?

Aparently, if you put a sieve under your sump then undo the sump bolt, it'll keep the oil in better than aftermarket rocker cover gaskets

Genuine all the way.

Plus i would highly recommend getting genuine washers as well if you want to do a good job.

Sometime they leak because the washers are so squeezed they can't keep pressure

I reused genuine one that only did 2000kms and they leaked, about to order a new genuine set, make sure you replace the washers as well!!

somewhere on here i had photos of new aftermarket washers and used genuine washers and the used washers were still thicker

Never yet had a complaint on permaseal or sta's own brand....

More in the prep and doing it properly IMO.

I think some people would use them on here and keep quiet just coz of ther bashing that ensues.

ive used both ...... non genuine just don't last for bother all . for bugger all extra why not go for something that'll go the distance.

im not interested in changing rocker gaskets every time i do a service

also by prep do you mean sealant?

sweet well good to know, those washers are $9. 20 including each (genuine) , vs $3 something trade, i got a price off bays water Subaru for both sides all 12 washers and 4 plug seals $213 including, pricey compered to aftermarket stuff, that's why i asked as some say there rubbish but some say there sweet as.. last time i did rockers on my gt i just gooed then up and use old ones worked a treat haha

permaseal leaked on me . got from bnt in rangiora canterbury . i payed alot less then $150 for a complete set tho thats robbery(for an am gasket).

weather it was a bad batch i don't know . the seals didn't sit right in the cover which is why i think it leaked (had to be slightly stretched)

I know this may sound stupid but did you get the right ones? You need engine number to match them non genuine...not blaming you if they were there is some thick shits in parts...

I have had the CORRECT permaseal gaskets and cover washers fail on me, and i use permaseal head gaskets all the time so I am not anti the company

Its up to you personally I always give the option, if the price difference vs perceived quality is worth it in your eyes go for it either way. With everything there is a trade off. PM me for trade price hookup on gen parts.
