Shuddering when brakes applied at high speed.

When im usually driving at high speeds say about 160 or 180(private road ) ...so i apply the brakes gently then it starts shuddering in the front?

Its not really a hassle cause i dont really drive like at 160 everywhere ...brakes fine at other speeds except above 160..

Is it my brake pads or rotors? ???

most likely your rotors have a slight warp but could be tyres not rated for that kind of speed, etc. id say at 160 your whole car will be shaking.

Most people will say warped disks. which is usually technically incorrect. More likely though is that your disks have deposit of pad material in one or two places. This happens when the rotors get hot and the brakes are applied to a standing stop. A thin layer of pad transfers to the disk and bonds, thus causing the uneven surface. I think it may also happen as both the pad and rotor wear, though this i cannot confirm

This makes sense when you think about it, cause if a rotor was actually warped, then skimming would either: a: still result in a warped rotor or b; result in a rotor of varying thickness.

End result is the same though, rotors need skimming.

Mates evo had the same issue, we had tried to figure it out for literally months while at pukekohe and taupo.

Turns out the new pads he had were too high end and not able to seal with the heat generated, the glue? compound in the pads were leaving resin on the discs.

By this stage we had tried just about everything but the pads. (doh)

Replaced the endless pads (cant remember which ones) with less hardcore version, problem solved.

although in your case sounds like warp/not alligned brakes/rotors. have you tried bleeding your brakes latley uncase theyre not applying pressure uniformly?

If you shudder when you brake it means your scared. The simple answer is hard pills or not to speed. ;D
