Turbo seals gone?

Okay, so dad is taking car over for wof today, but under boost it\'s blowing black smoke, and the car seems to be drinking oil, is this a case of buggered turbo seals?

Any help cheers, cheap fixes?

would be a logical deduction, or you have a large hole in a piston

easiest way to check is the turbine housing will be full of oily gunk. remove DP and inspect.

Yeah, I don\'t think there\'s a hole in a piston. Engine was put together recently.

When I bought the turbo I was told it was in good nick, can the seals let go after not being used?

It\'s a tdo5h can you get cheap seal kits for these?

I thought the same too, but drinking oil?-also thought could have been the rings farq out cos of sitting so long.

Yeah, it only blows smoke under boost though?

I might have got the 02/lambda sensor wires around the wrong way?

my turbo would smoke badly only under WOT + positive boost pressure.

your answer fully depends on what the smoke is - blue or black. (as per what stoffa said). start with turbine housing inspection and report back.

Mine used to blow a bit of black smoke on WOT.. nothing to worry me to much

Yeah: I\'m hoping it\'s just that it\'s blowing crap off from sitting for so long, I got the turbo in feb, and it had been sitting before then, not sure on the history: it was gazzys iirc, can\'t remember if it was the Y-pipe he was selling on behalf, or turbo itself

There\'s also a difference in black soot. It\'s like carbon build up in the exhaust.

Turbo seals don\'t turn, they don\'t move full stop, they just sit there every turbo is the same,ok?

if a turbo leaks oil its the end result of other things going wrong causing excessive wear to the sides of a seal thus seals dont just blow cause they dont move nor can they go anywhere !!

Overfuelling, is the prognosis, now as a question, I assumed the AFM from bh/be is same as v5/v6, now smack me with a you stupid noob stick if I\'m wrong?

Issue sorted,ntmic sits flush, ic piping fixed. No boost leak, therefore no overfuelling yay sorted. Cheers.

Yeah, free: cos dad just grabbed some unused radiator hose from one of the trucks (MAN 350 lol) only one join in Y-pipe now, less places to leak lol
