ignition barrel bolts

this may sound stupid to sum but how on earth do you remove the stupid ignition bolts in a early bc5 legacy. these bolts hav a cone like top nothing to put a screwdriver into which i think is quite dumb i thought of smashing it off but i dont want to wreck any thing

any help would do

is there a special tool for this job

They are anti tamper bolts dude..

Either drill them out orhacksaw them.

they have a hex head that snaps off on purpose at a given torque when doing them up - which leaves the tamper proof cone on top.

use die grinder to put a slot in for screwdriver if theres space : or a punch and "unwind" it

I use a drill and a small easy out to do my ones, They are not very tight so a centre punch and hammer and tappity tap tap them on the outside of the cone at an angle so that they turn works as well.

When fitting new/replacment i use allen headed bolts as a normal bolts head is to large.

just use a sharp edged cold chisel and a hammer, just tap into the edge and they\'ll slowly come undone. that way you can reuse them.

anyone know where to get the anti tamper bolts, I need to change the ignition after thieves attempted to steal my ride and screwed the ignition when they couldnt get it going

use something ordinary that works

Genuine I bet BUT the good news is pretty much every vehicle has them soooo they dont have to be SUBARU genuine I can get toyota genuine easily and I think would be the same size(8mm).

But as joker said I would fit allen headed screws, easier/cheaper to get and work well and easier to fix next time

just use hex/allen head bolts, its not like your average car thief is going to carry around a set of allen keys

Allen key and drill it out if you still want it to be tamper proof.....
