VF23???

Im wanting to know whether a vf23 would bolt straight onto my v5 wrx sti. If not what turbo would you suggest as I need to change my turbo?

Yes, bolt it on and use the banjo bolts/lines already on it. I would recommend new gaskets.

VF22/23/24/28/29/34 will fit and vf30 will fit but need to change banjo bolts to suit.

Way worse on an untuned car. My vf22 isnt laggy g4 c/l is winning.

Wooh

Get a tune with closed loop boost control. VF22 might be laggy compared to the garretts rolling round on here but its not a laggy turbo compared to other VF stuff untuned. Tuned it spools every bit as fast if not faster as my vf23 on the stock untuned ecu. Also remember youre comparing JB with BB. I get 20-22psi by about 3.6k. Seems normal for a tuned vf22.

No, it\'s a similar size yet has a journal bearing centre instead of BB so it takes a little longer.

On an untuned car it feels quite sluggish to get on boost.

Comparing one turbo using the factory boost control with another using a G4/EBC with a 3-port solenoid is comparing apples with chainsaws. You simply cannot draw a useful conclusion from it as the boost control plays such a huge part in the way it builds and holds boost.

A TD04L with a G4 would probably provide a better driving experience than an untuned car with a VF22.

Changing something with a massive impact like a turbo is almost fruitless without a tune imo. Anything will be sluggish/not optimum untuned is my point.

nothing wrong with a vf23 tho..

very nice spool and enough balls on top to keep most happy

all the vf are so close together in performance tbh. vf34/36/37 being the first reasonable noticeable change.

a tune on any VF is going to net far more benefit than an VF change but untuned.
