mmmmm..the noise when sucking it hard.....

the sound the turbo makes when sucking hard thru a pod specially..

kinda like ssssssssssssssssssss

and so on

anyway we upgraded a mates wrx to a bigger intake pipe and before it used to make a nice sucking noise when getting on boost

now the noise is gone

it still pulls as hard if not better

my theory is that the bigger intake has less restrictions so less sound due to a cleaner path from pod to turbo...

thoughts???

went from a small intake to a 4" Pod / 4" pipe and the noise increase is tremedous

Like wise - went from stock intake to 3" bend with pod - heaps of sucky. Now 4" w/anti surge but cant do sucky noises yet till gates welded in and I know tunes safe.

car seems to pull abt the same or better

dunno will ask him to come around tonight and do some logs to see if pulls better

I too have 4" pod & 4" inlet to turbo & noise is Awesome, even more so when cold air box lid is removed that you cant hear the ext w/gate open -screamer pipe-

is the car still running the/A pod filter?

Hmm the pod angle has changed and is sitting Abt on top of the abs unit and before was sitting on the Edge closer to engine

Wudnt have thought pod placement within few cm will make that much of a difference

Shall we try moving pod back to where it was which is few cm closer to engine and try ???

just going on by physics...

Turbulence and friction would be the culprits for making noise.

Flow rate through a fixed length pipe would reduce as the diameter gets larger, probably why you\'d have less noise?

Hmm thts what I thought - bigger pipe = Lower noise

Altho seems ppl here have had more noise

Pipe before was silicone and now is alloy

Though, I\'d focus more on the filtering element as the biggest source of noise.. since thats where most of the turbulence comes from..

It\'s the same pod filter on both old an new setup

Just went for a quick ride

Hmm there is a suck noise but it\'s Abt half or less in volume

And not as aggressive as before
