Boot lid scratch

Did that derp moment of thinking \'just a little bit further\' as I reversed, not seeing the sheet of corrugated iron that protruded.

Managed to leave my car with a hefty scratch right on the boot lid

Just emailed pictures through to Touch Up Guys and he wasn\'t keen to touch it. Apparently the boot lid, being a flat and large area, is very difficult to blend any paint if he were to cover it up...

So, what are my options? A quick browse of PartsWorld shows boot lids around $500 - $650. Need to get this fixed to perfection

Ouch, that looks painful. I\'d go and get a couple of quotes to have the whole lid re-sprayed, should only be $250-$350? If you brought second hand chances are the condition would be a disappointment for the price.

If you flip the first pic back the right way does it reduce the damage ?

Darn. Oh well, c\'est la vie. Anyone able to recommend a good paint shop? Preferably around the North Shore or Central Auckland? My friend had a bumper resprayed on his blue WRX and the colour wasn\'t quiiiiiite a match (amount of pearl I think made it lighter from certain angles) - I\'m wanting a really close (preferably exact ) match.

A good cut and polish will make it less painful till fixed, you may even be surprised.

Yup, iPhone in getting fixed after a post-exam celebration ended in an iPhone screen vs concrete match. Concrete won The Nokia loan phone that I\'m using doesn\'t even have a camera lol.

gt refinishers did a fantastic job with my bumper. colour matched and blended perfectly

Saw your other post actually and they are top of my list to give a call tomorrow. Might as well look at getting some minor scratches from previous owner/gravel touched up too, but will see how the budget goes.

my car was basically a rear 1/2 respray. bumper work, and blending into boot lid and 3/4 panels.

colour matched perfectly, minimal orange peeling (but that\'s to be expected with new paint) but it comes up nicely with a clean and wax. will happily recommend them to anyone, polite guys, very quick and a bloody good job

Hopefully my boot will be able to be removed and baked to prevent orange peeling.... If that does indeed fix it...

Got the car back today from GT Refinishers. Boot (not including spoiler) resprayed, looked like a polish all over and even made the \'IMPREZA\' decal under the WRX badge. Just a touch over $400. Colour match is perfect. 150% recommend these guys.

Sweet will check them out next year, my rear bumper had the paint scraped off a corner thanks to a "mysterious someone" at my work carpark. Pain in the ass but ah well what can you do.
