Wiring problems

Ok so halfway through last year i manual converted my bg9 2.5l and kept the standard auto ecu + wiring. I tricked the car into thinking its in park but connecting the park switch permanently. The car wouldnt start with the key, everything lit up, fuel pump etc but just nothing as soon as i turned the key to start it. So in hori fashions i bypassed the starter relay and connected the starter motor straight to a switch located next to my steering wheel. That was a temporary fix so i could atleast drive my car but its been working good since then. But now i want to see what you guys think is involved in getting everything working normal again and able to use my key. I was thinking just plug in a manual ecu perhaps?

Any ideas would be great :)

If its anything like my Surf, part of the wiring actually goes through a big switch on the gearbox that is only connected when in Park/Neutral. You\'ll need to find it and join the wires, if Subarus are anything like that.

The Auto Gear Box Inhibitor Switch (park switch) is the Ignition/Starters Earth. So that the Starter Motor is only earthed when in Park or Neutral.

Weird that it wouldn\'t start with the Switch Bypassed? Try connecting both wires straight to an earth/chassis and try starting it?

I was going to try connect my "custom" switch into the ignition barrel but didnt really want to mess with them unless i had full knowledge. I also just found this on the net.

" In the automatic cars, the inhibitor switch, which is located in the transmission, keeps the car from starting unless the gear selector is in park or neutral. In the automatics pins 11 & 12 on the B15 connector are the pins that are connected to the IG-1 ignition circuit, and starter relay."

Basically when i converted my car i did none, absolutely no wiring additions to the auto wiring/ecu. So basically it could be anything.

Ok so now what do i do which these 11 and 12 to?

I was trying to find a BG9 ECU Pin out diagram last night for a solution, but had no luck.

I\'m assuming #11 is the feed to the Inhibitor Switch, then #12 is the return signal to ECU. So connecting 11 & 12 together at the ECU should bypass (earth) the Inhibitor. Just want to see a pinout/ecu wiring diagram to confirm it?

Good luck mate i spent maybe 2 weeks straight looking for a ecu pinout with no luck. im surprised there isnt a information site with stuff like that for subarus. i did email subaru direct and they sent me what i think is a ecu pinout in japanese though and can upload if that helps and know someone japanese haha. So maybe i cut the wires just before they get to the plug and join them together and see what that does?

It is literally a plug which gets earthed when the car goes in park or neutral, you just need to get that "on" rather than just plugged in

http://www.surrealmirage.com/subaru/swap/electrical.html#shiftlock

30 secs on google searching legacy manual swap will find you a dozen diy guides, most are american but the idea and *most* of the wiring will be the same

I do like you no8 way of getting around the issue at first though haha

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
