V5-6 engine into a B4 legacy

Take a look here, the gist of it is the same, but obviously you can skip allot buy just buying the complete engine. it's been done a couple of times, no one seems to have/want to share the ECU pinouts though which will detail any minor differences between the looms (such as the ignition wiring). I think cause those who have done it have gone with aftermarket ECU's. It would be great if someone could tell us properly what needs to be done for the BE/BH's

Also, later model BE/BH's got different ECU's. I don't know which is which, and which works with the STi's.

does the gearbox need to be changed if I am to put an sti engine in?clutch? flywheel?

No, no and no.

Same clutch and flywheel and the gearbox's are physically the same.

Would there be much difficulty in putting a v7 sti engine in?

Yes!

V7 has AVCS and if your car dosen't that means a whole lot of work and you'll need to fit an aftermarket ECU that can run AVCS.

In your original question are you asking about just replacing your long motor with one from a V5/6 sti or are you asking about a full TT>T swap?

Because if it's just the long motor your wanting to put in then there is no need for any wiring/ECU mods at all.

You just bolt all the bits off your motor onto the V5 motor - only tricky part is modifying the LH head to accept oil and coolant feed/return lines for the turbo...

For single turbo or parallel twin turbo...

The ecu wiring requires a few wires to be swapped around and the variable fuel pump control needs to be rewired.

This will allow a v5 / v6 sti ecu to be plugged straight in.

Yeah but longblock wise, the GTB's manifolds, and sensors etc would bolt on right? Or are the incompatible?

Even if they worked though... the GTB's ECU's tune would not match up with the V3 block. May be a couple of HP wasted there?

hey would the cheapest option for this be buy an old rs engine (single turbo) and use the bits off it? but use an upgraded turbo vf22? ive been offered a complete engine 300 bucks with a slight knock

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
