Crap fuel from where? The warehouse gas station? Running on 91 isnt going to clog your filter or break your pump. 150,000kms will wear things out however.

Check the voltage to the pump, then get your afr's checked.

roger that!

one little piece of info has just been made aparent to me...

is it possible the noise that was heard wasnt detonation, but infact a resonable sized hole halfway down the exhaust???

aparently that, coupled with a tired turbo and wastegate can make a similar sound...

thoughts?

crap, a whole track day of det... not good at all.

just use avgas on the track, I have always had to, even with a tune that doesn't det

on the dyno or street or hillclimbs etc.

I hope your cars set up to Handle Avgas, or bye bye motor! Avgas Rots and fowls up everything. But I'm guessing your car is, because you wouldn't get very far with a normal car running avgas

Put it this way, Avgas is the worlds best degreaser and stripper of anything and everything, but engineers wont use it for this purpose as its volatile and extremely bad for your skin

Its main ingredient is tetra-ethyl lead, really nasty stuff that, if you get it on your hands, they go all white and dry, pour it on a plant and you'll see it die.

You'll get lead deposits all over your plugs fowling them up leading to knocking, over your cylinders which will lead to hotspots and in turn detonation (which is what you're trying to avoid in the first place)

So you very much need to tune your car to handle avgas, and I'm not too sure, but you may also need new spark plugs too, twin spark cars will handle it better, though there aren't too many of them around, shame that, its a noticeable power increase having two spark plugs in each engine.

(I fly planes, and have worked with a few engineers and also a few guys running avgas in their cars, plus I thought about running it in my car, cause it was waaay cheaper than pump gas back when it was 2.20 plus for 98)

Works well in Lawn Mowers though haha

I wouldn't recommend pouring any petrol over my hands or house plants.

How do you set up a car to run avgas exactly? I've been using it for 2 years and not

had any trouble... even my tuner said I should use it on a track for extra safety.

Unsure about that one as I have never heard that combination together, but I can definitely attest to detonation definitely not sounding like an exhaust leak. I'm the king of exhaust leaks haha from my experience of destorying exhausts at Ruapuna haha ;D

Get it on a dyno as soon as possible would still be the best bet especially as it's an engine at stake here.

Naa standard pump gas isn't that bad to get over your hands, though I still wouldn't be using it as my moisturiser ;D

Well I dont really know with a subaru, maybe its alright because the ecu talks to everything and will change the mixture, though it still wont be running to its potential till its been tuned, which you'd need a non standard ecu for. If you're running it on tracks, I would recommend using Subaru upper engine cleaner afterwards or a oil additive to flush out all the lead, because it really does leave deposits behind and causes hot spots. Do you drive it to the track with the avgas in the tank? Or only add it in there? If you're only adding it at the track that'd be alright cause your engines going to be running hot to burn alot of the lead away, but if you're using it to and from the track on the road I dont think it would be too healthy

no mr officer, i only put avgas in at track, n drain tank afterwards...

Just as a matter if interest, I'm guessing you get your avgas from ChCh aero club? How much do they charge? I think most places hike the price up by about 60 cents if they're selling it to anyone other than for a plane. If you can buy shell avgas off them it should be about 6 cents cheaper, at least it is in planes.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
